In India Teachers day celebrated every year on 5th of September every year on birth anniversary of our first vice President and second President of India Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. Since 1962 when Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan became President India celebrate his birthday as a Teachers Day.
About Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan
Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan (5 September 1888 – 17 April 1975) was the great Philosopher and was the second President and 1st vice President of India. He was Born on 5 September 1888 at Tiruttani in Tamil Nadu. Radhakrishnan was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1954. And he also received the Order of Merit in 1963 and the Templeton Prize in 1975. He passed away on 17 April 1975.

Teacher day celebrated every year on 5th of September because 5th september celebrated as the birthday of our second President and first vice President of India Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. When he became President of India some of his Students and friends requested him to allow them to celebrate his birthday as a Teachers day.
